I'm very excited to announce that Jody Westby, esq., CEO of Global Cyber Risk LLC and author of several CMU Cylab Reports including the most recent Governance Survey of Board Members across the US will be the Keynote Speaker at our May 26th Leadership Summit.  Her keynote address, underwritten by our 2011 Platinum Sponsor, IBM, will focus on the results of the December 2010 survey of over 700 directors from boards at large corporations.  In that survey, the respondents were asked to comment on the importance of security and compliance at the board level.

Our colleagues at the ISSA are working with NIST on their National Initative for CyberSecurity Education (NICE). NIST would like to have a review of their Track 4 Functional Area 2 requirements by a select number of senior level information security professionals outside of the government area to see if all functional areas are covered as well as the terms used are understandable to those outside of government.

NIST is seeking to ensure that what is put forward will have functional areas that are well defined on a broad base.  They want to answer the questions:

CISO Executive Network Founder Bill Sieglein comments on breaking news and the current series.

The Iranian government said that it intends to recruit hackers to help in its cyber warfare efforts.  This is apparently in response to the Stuxnet attack on Natanz nulcear power plant last year.  Read more here.

While reading some articles on the web tonight I stumbled on to this really awesome site with a tool that lets you click on a map of all the US states that have breach notification laws.  A popup window will display the various components of the law and let you read the actual language in the law.  I think this is a great tool for our members to share with their legal and audit teams.
